Category hierarchies

Description

purpose

Large sites might have 50-100 categories, but sometimes, a widget for example, might want to be able to show for selection a select list of categories.
It would be nice to be able to categories or group categories, so we can restrict the display, to make it more meaningful.

Implementation

Add recursion and hierarchy to base ORM object. Also, the UI will need to be updated to provide a tree

Sorry, I meant a way to group categories.
When using Categories as a way to organize content, it would be nice for a Theme, or Widget to be able to select a group of categories to show in a drop down or select list.

For example, if we wanted a photo gallery... it would be nice to tag a category as a Photo Gallery Category, so in that widget, we could list all Categories in that group, and show those 10, not the other 60 categories used for other things.
In all of my CMS designs, each content type had its own category, for this reason, which probably wasnt the best solution.
I like 1 list of categories, just some way to group or distinguish a subset of them would be nice.

Not sure what you mean then. Categories are already many to many to content objects.

I think a hierarchy might be too strict.
A category of categories... so it could be a many to many... but a simple hierarchy could work.
